City View for saxophone quartet 1996-99 City View was commissioned by the Danish Saxophone Quartet with financial support for KODA. The work is in a single movement but falls into three sections. The first and last sections are fast and rhythmic while the middle section consists of long, gradually changing sustained chords with multiphonics, which enable each player to play 2-3 note chords. All four saxophone parts are equally important and virtuosic. The work was inspired by the vibrancy and tension of an evening in Manhattan.
