Security

This page about the security system in IT-Parken should be read carefully by all new employees as well as students. This is a brief introduction and if you after reading this have further questions, do not hesitate to ask one of the secretaries or technical staff.

Because of several occasions of breaking in, it is very important to keep the rules and be attentive especially outside opening hours.

Access Control

Outsidedoors and doors to the corridors in IT-parken and in a large part of our premises in this area are covered by a system using access cards. These cards are also used in specific areas such as the basementparking and some few technique rooms.

Accesscards are used to open doors with a card reader outside normal openinghours. You can NOT use your key to open doors with a card reader. At present doors to the Turing building, the Dreyer building, the backentrance to Hopper/Wiener/Bush and doors to student facilities are locked.

Accesscards are coded with different access rights. Employees have access to open all outside doors and doors to the corridors with card readers. Students have access only to relevant buildings.

Student cards and access cards from other parts of the university may also be used as access cards.

How to open a locked door from outside with an access card.

The light on the card reader is not on when the door is closed.

- Pull your card throught the card reader (the blue arrow facing down)

- a valid card shows a yellow light flashing on and off

- an invalid card or invalid door show a red light

- Type your code

- Open the door within 15 seconds

- Check that the door closes again

When you exit a locked door with a card reader

Press the button marked “DØRÅBNER” (the new doors have, furthermore, a button placed on the door itself with the same function)

Wait few seconds for the door to unlock

Open the door

Check that the door closes again

Do not use the manual lock as it will activate the alarm.

Ifyou force the door to be open and the card reader starts to beep, it means that you must close the door immediately or press the button “DØRÅBNER”. Otherwise the card reader will activate the alarm shortly after.

Outside normal opening hours the following doors can NOT be opened without activating the alarm:

The doors towards the yard, from Ada-020

The outside door into the goods delivery in Ada-113

The technical staff doors in Hopper-0…

Emergency exits will always activate the alarm if opened. E.g. the outside doors with a card reader in Babbage-001 and Bush-120.

Most of the doors to the corridors may be left open during normal working hours indicated by a “green light” on the card reader.

You open the door with the door handle wide up (and keep it open)

You also open the other door wide up and let them both go

After normal opening hours the doors close automatically otherwise they may be closed manually by pressing “PRØVETRYK DØR” (placed high up on the wall).

Please be aware that guests need help to enter the buildings outside normal opening hours.

Alarm System

The alarm system works in a way that the buildings can be used during the whole day, but with few limits regarding noice and opening of doors and windows.

You will only hear the alarm if it is activated near you. Do not turn off an alarm without knowing the cause of it.

Please notice that you are only able to turn off the alarm on the control panel in the building where the alarm is activated.

You find alarm panels in:

- Bush-004 The old panel in the basement.

- Ada-112 Next to the toilets on the secretariat floor.

- Hopper-012

- Wiener-012

- Dreyer-102 Lobby in the CAVI building

- Zuse-112 The student hall

- Building 5365-115

The procedure is that you hurry to the panel and follow the instructions. It is important that you follow the instructions carefully, otherwise the monitoring centre will not be noticed.

To avoid activating the alarm, please be aware that:

Windows provided with a visible magnetic contact placed in the lower left corner are included in our alarm system.

- During normal opening hours you can open the windows without problems.

- Outside normal opening hours you are only allowed to tip the windows. You turn the handle to horizontal position and open the upper part of the window inwards.

Loud noise may activate the alarm outside normal working hours.

Check that the doors close correctly when you sort or enter. If you have any problems with the doors please notify the caretakers.

Equipment that can be seen form the outside may tempt people to break into the room.
