What is New in Version 3.1?

New Features

1. Interchange Format. Import and Export of CPN diagrams in a textual format. This functionality is accessed through the entries Load Interchange and Save Interchange in the File menu.
2. Occurrence Graphs with equivalences and symmetries. The Design/CPN OE/OS library has been integrated in the tool. In the File menu the new entry Enter OE/OS Graph makes the switch to the OE/OS Tool.
3. Scripting of Mimics input. Input given to the Mimics animation library interface can now be recorded, edited and replayed.
4. Faster/Easier access to enabled transitions. In the Sim menu the new entry Select Enabled brings up a dialog for choosing between page instances with enabled transitions. The feature can also be accessed using Control Key and Mouse Click in title bar of the current page.
5. Library for creating Message Sequence Charts.
6. Bitmap images. Besides the built-in fill patterns We now support fill with an arbitrary bitmap image. Currently supported file formats are: TIFF, PNG, JPEG and XPM. ML function for load of bitmap images is supplied. In the File menu the new entry Load Image is used for load of bitmap images.
7. Colours can now be used in the graphical layout.
   • Colours can be set by means of the Graphic Attributes in the Set menu.
   • ML functions for changing/setting colours are supplied.
   • Colour information is included in PostScript output.
8. Encapsulated Postscript. Pages can now be printed as encapsulated postscript. In the File menu the two new entries Eps setup and Save Eps accesses the EPS facilities.
9. Improved headers on generated PostScript files. Paper format and page names are now included in the generated PostScript code.
10. A3 paper format. We now support the following paper types: A4, A3, B4, B5, Letter and Tabloid.

Enhancements

1. Performance of the Mimic library improved.
2. Enter Occ Graph and Enter OE/OS Graph. It is now possible to make the switch to the Occurrence Graph Tools directly from the editor.
3. Move to subpage. When a single transition is selected the user is no longer prompted for drawing the substitution transition and only port places are created on the subpage.
4. CPN Regions. An appropriate default text is now automatically part of guard and code regions upon creation.
5. ML exceptions during occurrence graph generation. Calculation is stopped when an ML exception is raised. Node and binding element being processed when the ML exception was raised is reported to the user.
6. Initial marking of fusion sets. It is now legal to omit the specification of the initial marking for some of the members in a fusion set. If two or more members have an initial marking region, these must be identical. If no members of the fusion set have an initial marking region, the fusion set gets the empty multi-set as initial marking.
7. Save State prompt. The user is no longer prompted to save the state when leaving the simulator in the initial marking.
8. Parentheses in CPN regions. Missing parentheses are now reported in a more understandable way.
9. The result of ML Evaluate is now indicated by means of the colour of the response box (green = ok, yellow = unhandled exception, red = error)
