Other Hardware/Software Environments
We have limited resources for the development and maintenance of Design/CPN. Hence, we prefer to use as much of our work as possible for development, e.g., to realise some of the extension and improvements outlined in Future Plans for Design/CPN.In principle there is no problem in compiling Design/CPN for many different kinds of hardware/software environments. However, this takes a considerable amount of time, for each new version, and it also makes the maintenance more difficult because bugs may be environment dependent.
To keep our workload down we will insist on only supporting the three specified environments for Sun Sparc with Solaris, HP PA-RISC with HP-UX, and Intel PCXK with Linux. Other environments will only be supported if someone is willing to pay one of our programmers to do the extra work.
