Intel PCs with Linux

Hardware

• PC based on Intel processors: i386, i486, i586, i686
• 16" monitor (or larger) with at least 16 colours or levels of gray.

Operating system

• Linux OS 2.0 or later (we have successfully tried RedHat 5.1, available from www.redhat.com)
• libc.so.6 (also known as GNU libc)
• X Server (Version 11, Release 6)
• Window managers: twm, tvtwm, fvwm, mwm or tekwm
• Network Installation - also for standalone machines, in other words; your machine must be able to telnet to itself.

Minimum application size

• Design/CPN: 16 MB
• New Jersey ML Compiler: 32 MB
• The two processes may run on different hosts
• Use twice as much swap space as RAM
