Do I Need to be a Genius to use Design/CPN?

No you do not. Design/CPN can be used by most people who have some background in programming or modelling/simulation. However, to use the tool you obviously need to acquire some knowledge of Coloured Petri Nets.

In addition to the Design/CPN tutorial and the Examples of Design/CPN Models , we strongly recommend that you read the introductory chapters in Vol. 1 of the following text book (in particular Sects. 1.1-1.7, 3.1-3.2, 6.1-6.3 and 7.1-7.5):
